President Bola Tinubu is reportedly considering former Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, as the likely replacement for Badaru Abubakar, who resigned on Monday as minister of defence citing health reasons.

Gatekeepers News reports that the President is said to have finalised plans to bring Musa into the cabinet, following sustained internal pressure to appoint a former senior military officer to the defence portfolio.

Musa arrived at the State House at about 7:03 p.m. on Monday, accompanied by a senior security official, before proceeding to the President’s office area. He was dressed in a dark-green traditional outfit with elbow-length sleeves.

The meeting marks Musa’s first public engagement with President Tinubu since his retirement on October 24, 2025.
