PDP Edo Chapter Denies New Leadership – Calls Alleged Expulsions Invalid

Edo State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed media claims about a new National Chairman emerging from a purported convention held in Ibadan on November 16, 2025, and allegations that prominent members, including the Honourable Minister of the FCT, H.E. Nyesom Wike, were expelled from the party.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement on Wednesday, PDP Edo State Publicity Secretary, Bob-Manuel Umoru, described the reports as false, emphasising that the party has conducted no valid National Convention in accordance with its constitution.

The party said, “No individual can legitimately claim to have emerged as National Chairman or holder of any national office from a convention that did not occur.”

The party highlighted that two subsisting High Court judgments remain in force, restraining any convention from proceeding pending the resolution of ongoing legal matters.

It added that any action taken in violation of these court orders, including the alleged handover ceremony and purported expulsions, is null, void, and of no effect whatsoever.

On the alleged expulsion of members, the Edo chapter described it as “a deliberate mockery of due process” and “childish political drama.”

It warned that party rebuilding efforts must respect the constitution, follow legal procedures, and pursue genuine reconciliation, rather than rely on propaganda or illegitimate power grabs.

The Edo State PDP reiterated that no National Convention has been held, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, is not the National Chairman, and the alleged expulsions are illegal and unenforceable. The valid High Court orders remain in effect.

The party called on members nationwide and across the world to disregard the misinformation and remain committed to defending the constitution and integrity of PDP.
