Semenyo Vows To ‘Rewrite History Again’ After £65m Manchester City Move

Manchester City’s new signing, Antoine Semenyo, has said he wants to “rewrite history again” after completing a high-profile £65 million transfer from Bournemouth, the first major deal of the Premier League’s January transfer window.

Gatekeepers Newreports that the 26-year-old winger has signed a five-and-a-half-year contract at the Etihad Stadium, ending weeks of speculation over his future. Semenyo had also attracted interest from Liverpool, Manchester United and Tottenham, with his Bournemouth buyout clause understood to have been due to expire on Saturday.

Semenyo arrives at City after an impressive campaign in which he has scored 10 Premier League goals this season.

Speaking after sealing the move, the London-born Ghana international said Manchester City’s sustained success under Pep Guardiola played a decisive role in his decision.

“I have watched City over the last decade under Pep Guardiola, and they have been the dominant team in the Premier League as well as achieving amazing things in the Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup,” Semenyo said.

“They have set the highest of standards and it’s a club with world-class players, world-class facilities and one of the greatest managers ever in Pep.”

Semenyo joins the reigning champions at a time when City are rebuilding after a trophyless campaign last season and the departure of several senior players.

He said the chance to be part of a new era at the club was a major attraction.
