The minister said, “You have been here before; you know what it takes to win at this level.”
He recalled that Nigeria’s previous AFCON successes were built on unity, confidence, and resilience, stressing that the same qualities have been evident in the current squad’s run to the last four.
Idris said, “Those victories were not accidents; they came from teamwork, confidence, and a fighting spirit, and you have shown that same spirit in this tournament.”
The minister added that the players will step onto the pitch carrying the hopes and prayers of millions of Nigerians at home and in the diaspora.
He said, “As you step onto the pitch, remember that you are not alone; you carry the hopes of millions of Nigerians.”
Idris urged the team to play like champions, remain united, and stay committed from the opening whistle to the final moment.
He said, “Stay focused, trust one another, and give your best from the first whistle to the last.”
According to him, the Super Eagles have earned their place in the semi-finals and have the quality and experience needed to reach the final of the competition.
He added, “Tonight, go out there and write another proud chapter in our football story.”
“Play with heart, play with pride, play for Nigeria.”
