Seun Kuti And Peter Okoye End Feud Over Politics

Nigerian musicians Seun Kuti and Peter Okoye have put an end to the feud that kept them apart for over a year.

Gatekeepers News reports that the rift began in February 2023 during the build-up to the presidential election when Seun openly criticised Labour Party candidate Peter Obi, describing him as an opportunist who could not rescue Nigeria.

His comments angered Peter Okoye, who had publicly declared support for Obi at the time. The disagreement quickly spilled onto social media, where both artistes exchanged harsh words, drawing widespread attention from fans and the public.

A new video circulating online now suggests that the tension between them has been resolved. The clip shows both men meeting at a nightclub, where they hugged and shared smiles in what appeared to be a friendly atmosphere.

In the video, Seun is heard telling Okoye, “We are artistes, we can not be fighting over politicians”. Peter smiled, and both nodded, signalling that they had moved past the disagreement.

The reconciliation has since attracted positive reactions online, with many fans praising the duo for choosing unity over political division, especially at a time when public debates remain highly polarised.

Peter Okoye rose to fame as one-half of the former Psquare music duo alongside his twin brother, Paul. Since the group’s breakup, he has maintained a successful solo career and remains one of the most influential pop figures in Nigeria.

Seun Kuti, the youngest son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Anikulapo Kuti, is widely known for his outspoken views and music that tackle social injustice, governance, and African identity. Since releasing his debut album Many Things in 2008, he has dropped several albums and EPs, earning international recognition and a loyal following for his activism-driven sound.
