Taraba Govt Warns Residents Against Fake Government Official

Taraba State Government has cautioned members of the public over the activities of a suspected fraudster posing as a government official to obtain money illegally.

Gatekeepers News reports that in a disclaimer issued over the weekend, the state government alerted residents to an individual known as Yeriman Kente, who is alleged to be falsely presenting himself as a Special Adviser on Political Matters to Governor Agbu Kefas.

The government said the suspect has been contacting unsuspecting members of the public and demanding money with claims that he can influence appointments into the Taraba State Civil Service, especially the position of Permanent Secretary.

The statement made it clear that the individual has no link with the Governor or any arm of the Taraba State Government and is not authorised to act on behalf of the administration in any capacity.

It stressed that civil service appointments are based strictly on due process and not through payments, personal connections, or middlemen.

According to the disclaimer, the suspect allegedly uses the phone numbers 08134543621 and 08086776306, as well as OPay account numbers 8134543621 and 7057225275, registered under the name Yerima Haruna, to carry out the alleged fraud.

The government noted that despite several earlier warnings issued to the public, the government noted that the individual has continued his alleged fraudulent activity unabated.

Residents were advised to ignore and avoid any dealings with the suspect and to promptly report any contact or financial transaction involving the listed phone numbers or bank accounts to security agencies.

The state government emphasised that no person has been approved to use his name or office to solicit money from the public.
