Orbih Hails Federal High Court Judgment Nullifying PDP National Convention

National Vice Chairman, South South Zone of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Dan Osi Orbih, has commended the judgment of the Federal High Court sitting in Ibadan, which nullified the National Convention held November 15-16, 2025 in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Gatekeepers News reports that according to a statement signed by Prince Etim Isong, Zonal Publicity Secretary of PDP South South Zone on Friday, Chief Orbih described the ruling as a victory for democracy, justice, and the supremacy of the rule of law, stressing that no individual or group is above the law in a democratic system.

According to him, the judgment has once again reaffirmed the fundamental principle that political parties must operate within the framework of the law, their constitutions, and internal democratic processes.

He noted that the decision of the court should serve as a wake-up call to all stakeholders within the PDP to respect legal processes and uphold the values that strengthen democratic institutions.

Chief Orbih further emphasized that the survival and credibility of the PDP depend on strict adherence to the rule of law, unity of purpose, and genuine commitment to democratic ideals. He noted that there is no alternative to the rule of law in a democracy. Any process that disregards the law and due process cannot stand the test of time.

Chief Orbih also called on the Turaki-led group and their supporters to respect the judgment of the court and align themselves with the legally recognised Mohammed Abdulrahman-led Caretaker Committee, with Senator Samuel Anyanwu as National Secretary, which has been affirmed by the court as the only legitimate leadership of the PDP pending the conduct of a lawful national convention.

He stressed that this is the only viable path to restoring stability, unity, and credibility within the party, urging all stakeholders to put the collective interest of the PDP above personal ambitions and work together to strengthen the party ahead of future political engagements.
