President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has flown back to Abuja after concluding a multi-day state visit to the Republic of Turkey, where he held high-level talks and advanced bilateral cooperation with Turkish leaders.

Gatekeepers News reports that his official aircraft landed at the Presidential Wing of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at about 8:55 p.m. on Saturday, and he was welcomed by senior government officials including the Ministers for the Federal Capital Territory and Finance.

Tinubu’s trip, which began on Tuesday in Ankara, saw him meet with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and other top officials to discuss deeper collaboration in areas such as trade, investment, energy, security, and counter-terrorism.

The two nations emphasised their shared goal of increasing bilateral commerce from around $2 billion to $5 billion, an ambition reinforced through the signing of nine agreements covering defence cooperation, economic partnerships, education, media, and other strategic sectors.

Among the outcomes of the visit was the agreement to establish a Joint Economy and Trade Committee to drive implementation of the deals and attract fresh investments.

Both leaders also reaffirmed commitments to security cooperation, including intelligence sharing and military training, aimed at strengthening both countries’ capabilities in tackling terrorism and promoting regional stability.

The visit built on ongoing diplomatic efforts between Nigeria and Türkiye, with both governments highlighting the importance of expanded economic ties, job creation, and shared prosperity.

Tinubu expressed gratitude for Turkey’s openness to collaboration and reiterated Nigeria’s dedication to peace, economic growth, and broadening its global partnerships.
