The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency (DSVA) has launched an urgent search for a young TikToker known as Mirabel, following her public claim that she was sexually assaulted in her home.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a series of emotional videos shared on her TikTok page, Mirabel said the incident occurred on February 15 at her residence. Fighting back tears, she disclosed that she has since struggled with severe insomnia, often resorting to alcohol or drugs to fall asleep.
She recounted that on the morning of the incident, she heard a knock at her door and assumed it was a neighbour. Instead, a stranger allegedly forced his way inside.
Mirabel said she was shoved to the ground and lost consciousness. When she came to, she claimed the intruder was raping her.
After the assault, she said she began bleeding heavily, initially mistaking it for the start of her menstrual cycle.
The young woman also revealed that she later received a message from an Instagram account bearing the name “Priston.” The user allegedly admitted to the crime, claiming he had repeatedly tried to date her and, after being rejected, decided to “take extreme action.”
According to Mirabel, the sender also boasted about coming from a wealthy family and suggested he could manipulate any police investigation.
In another video posted on Tuesday, Mirabel disclosed that she attempted to take her own life by ingesting a toxic substance. She said a friend rushed her to the hospital, saving her life.
Appearing weak and barely able to speak, she wrote:
“I am too tired, I can’t respond to the message. I will respond when I get better, thank you.”
The videos triggered widespread outrage and concern on social media, drawing the attention of state authorities.
In a statement shared via its X handle, the DSVA confirmed it was actively monitoring the situation and working to locate her.
“The Lagos State Domestic and Sexual Violence Agency has taken note of the multiple tags and public concerns regarding a video currently circulating on social media, in which a young woman shared her experience of sexual assault at her residence on her TikTok page,” the agency said.
“We want to state clearly that we have seen the reports and we are actively making efforts to reach the survivor to offer immediate support and appropriate intervention and ascertain the location. Our team has initiated contact through available channels and will continue efforts to establish communication.”
The agency appealed to the public for help, urging anyone with credible information about Mirabel’s whereabouts to come forward.
“If anyone has credible information that can assist us in reaching her directly and safely, please contact the Agency by sending us a DM on any of our official social media channels,” it added.
Reaffirming its position, the agency said:
“The Lagos State Government maintains a zero tolerance stance against all forms of Domestic and Sexual Violence. Sexual Assault is a crime, and every survivor deserves protection, care, support and justice.”
