Arsenal returned to winning ways on Sunday with a convincing 4-1 victory over Tottenham, tightening their grip on the top of English Premier League table and restoring confidence after two straight winless outings.

Gatekeepers News reports that the North London derby, played at the London Stadium, saw Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyokores deliver dominant performances, scoring two goals each to hand Mikel Arteta’s side a crucial three points.

Eze struck once in each half, continuing his fine scoring record against Spurs this season, while Gyokores netted both of his goals after the break to seal a comfortable win.

Tottenham, who were led for the first time by new manager Igor Tudor, struggled to cope with Arsenal’s intensity. The visitors opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when Eze reacted quickest inside the six-yard box to volley home from close range.

However, defensive hesitation allowed Spurs to draw level just two minutes later, as Declan Rice was dispossessed by Randal Kolo Muani, who calmly finished into the bottom corner.

Arsenal responded strongly in the second half, regaining control of the match almost immediately. Gyokores fired in a powerful strike two minutes after the restart to restore the lead, before Eze capitalised on a loose ball in the box to complete his brace on 61 minutes. The Swedish striker later added a fourth, holding off his marker before curling a fine effort beyond the goalkeeper to put the game beyond doubt.

The result marked Arsenal’s fifth straight league victory over Tottenham and extended Spurs’ poor home run against their rivals, having now lost four consecutive league matches at home to the Gunners for the first time since 1955. Arsenal’s win lifted them to 61 points from 28 matches, opening a five-point gap over second-placed Manchester City, who still have a game in hand.

Elsewhere, Alex Iwobi delivered a strong display as Fulham recorded a 3-1 away win over Sunderland. The Nigerian midfielder scored one goal and provided an assist, while his international teammate Calvin Bassey won a penalty that was successfully converted, helping Fulham secure a vital victory on the road.

In other matches, Ola Aina was on the losing side as Nottingham Forest fell 1-0 at home to Liverpool, conceding a late Alexis Mac Allister strike at the City Ground. Tolu Arokodare endured a difficult afternoon after missing a penalty in Wolverhampton Wanderers’ narrow 1-0 defeat away at Crystal Palace.
