Kabiru Turaki, factional national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has met with party leaders, including Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed, as well as the party’s 37 state chairmen, to coordinate the rollout of its electronic membership registration exercise.
Gatekeepers News reports that in a statement issued on Sunday by Ini Ememobong, national publicity secretary of the Turaki-led faction, the party announced that the digital membership registration would commence today and run for three weeks across the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
On Monday, Turaki convened a virtual meeting with members of the PDP National Working Committee (NWC), governors, and state chairmen to formally kick off the e-registration programme.
In a post shared via X, Turaki described the engagement as a strategic move aimed at strengthening the party’s internal framework and modernising its membership database.
He said discussions centred on the modalities for implementing the e-registration exercise and the responsibilities of each state chapter in ensuring a smooth rollout.
“I emphasised that this exercise is not just a routine administrative update, but a strategic step towards strengthening our internal structures, enhancing transparency, and modernising our membership database across the country,” Turaki stated.
He explained that the initiative is designed to improve coordination and reposition the party’s internal systems through a digitally driven membership framework.
During the session, party leaders reviewed the operational blueprint for the exercise, including timelines, coordination mechanisms, reporting channels, and responsibilities at state and local government levels.
“I stressed the importance of early preparation, stakeholder sensitisation, and proper supervision to avoid bottlenecks and ensure a seamless rollout,” the statement added.
Turaki urged state chairmen and NWC members to take ownership of the process by working closely with state executives and technical teams to ensure inclusiveness, credibility, and efficiency.
“Our collective commitment will determine the smoothness and overall success of this initiative,” he said.
According to him, the meeting featured frank and solution-driven contributions from governors, NWC members, and representatives from various states.
“It was reassuring to witness the shared resolve and dedication of PDP leaders towards repositioning the party for greater effectiveness. Together, we remain focused and united in building a stronger and more digitally responsive PDP,” the statement added.
