Police Arrest Suspect Over Fatal Clash In Ibadan Community

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with a violent altercation that led to the death of a man in Asalu Community, Lalupon area of Ibadan.

Gatekeepers Newreports that the command said the arrest formed part of ongoing efforts to maintain law and order and protect lives across the state.

Preliminary investigations showed that community leaders reported the incident to the Iyana-Offa Police Division after they were alerted by local security guards about a confrontation involving a group of youths in the area.

The injured victims were immediately rushed to Ojo Oluwa Hospital in Iyana-Offa for treatment. However, one of them, identified as Kehinde, also known as “Ogo Ojigbo,” later died from his injuries.

Following the report, a team of police operatives led by the Divisional Police Officer, Iyana-Offa Division, swiftly moved to the scene and the hospital.

Police authorities said photographs were taken for documentation, while one suspect, Giwa Sodiq, was arrested in connection with the incident.

The body of the deceased has been deposited at the Adeoyo State Hospital morgue, Ring Road, Ibadan, for preservation and autopsy.

The command added that efforts are ongoing to track down other suspects who fled the scene to ensure they are brought to justice.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, CP Femi Haruna, commended the swift response of the operatives and urged residents to remain vigilant and promptly report criminal activities.

He also appealed to members of the public with useful information that could lead to the arrest of the fleeing suspects to assist the police.

Haruna further acknowledged the continued guidance of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Rilwan Disu, in strengthening community policing and law enforcement across the state.
