Bayo Adelabu says the federal government has begun implementing concrete measures to tackle the persistent gas supply challenges affecting electricity generation in the country.
Gatekeepers News reports that Adelabu made this known in his Eid-el-Fitr message delivered on Thursday. In a statement issued by his special adviser on strategic communication and media relations, Bolaji Tunji, the minister expressed optimism that recent interventions by the government are beginning to yield gradual improvements.
According to him, the steps being taken are expected to significantly boost electricity supply in the near future.
“Concrete measures are being implemented to ensure more reliable and sustainable electricity for homes, businesses, and industries,” Adelabu was quoted as saying.
“The reforms initiated by President Bola Tinubu are beginning to take root, and Nigerians will soon witness the full benefits.”
The minister stressed that sustained public trust and cooperation are critical to the success of the administration’s reform agenda in the power sector and beyond.
He added that the president is working to reposition Nigeria globally in a bid to attract more investments and drive national development.
“As we celebrate, we take pride in the strides being made under Mr President’s leadership, including his recent engagements in the United Kingdom, which promise significant gains in investment, bilateral relations, and economic cooperation,” Adelabu said.
“These milestones underscore a new direction for our nation. I urge all Nigerians to continue supporting these efforts, so that the gains can be consolidated for the benefit of all.”
Earlier, on March 5, the Nigerian Independent System Operator (NISO) attributed the continued drop in electricity generation to ongoing gas supply constraints affecting several thermal power plants across the country.
