Manchester City defeated Arsenal 2–0 to win the League Cup, securing the first major trophy of the season.
Gatekeepers News reports that the match, played at Wembley Stadium, was decided by a brilliant second-half performance from young defender Nico O’Reilly, who scored both goals within a few minutes. His first came after an error by Arsenal’s goalkeeper, while the second was a powerful header from a cross.
Arsenal, who came into the game as favourites and Premier League leaders, struggled to create clear chances and failed to respond after going behind. Their hopes of winning multiple trophies this season were also ended by the defeat.
The victory marks Manchester City’s ninth League Cup title and another major achievement for manager Pep Guardiola, who continues to dominate domestic competitions.
Despite the loss, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said his team will focus on bouncing back in other competitions as the season continues.
