Nasir El-Rufai has returned to court following the burial of his mother, after being temporarily released from custody on compassionate grounds.
Gatekeepers News reports that the former Kaduna Governor arrived at the state high court in Kaduna on Tuesday and is expected to proceed to the federal high court for the hearing of his bail application.
His appearance comes days after he was granted temporary release by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to attend his mother’s burial rites.
El-Rufai had earlier been remanded in custody after being arraigned on charges bordering on alleged fraud and money laundering. The court had adjourned the hearing of his bail application to March 31.
According to reports, the former governor returned to court immediately after the burial to continue legal proceedings in the case against him.
The matter is expected to focus on his bail application as the trial progresses.
