Germany Moves Nigerian Student Visa Processing To Lekki Centre

The Embassy of Germany in Nigeria has announced that applications for student visas will now be processed exclusively through a visa application centre operated by VFS Global in Lekki, Lagos.

Gatekeepers Newreports that in a post shared on X, the embassy stated that prospective Nigerian students intending to study in Germany will no longer submit their applications directly at the consulate.

Instead, applicants who complete their online registration will be scheduled for appointments at the VFS centre.

“From now on, applications for visa to study in Germany will be accepted exclusively by the visa application centre operated by VFS Global in Lekki,” the post reads.

The embassy also disclosed that Gerald Wolf and Stephen Kubasu officially launched the processing of applications at the centre on March 25, 2026.

It added that applicants would be invited to the VFS facility for their appointments rather than visiting the consulate directly once their schedules are confirmed.

The embassy further advised applicants to visit the VFS Global website for more information on the application process and required documentation.

Germany continues to attract many Nigerian students, largely due to its relatively low or tuition-free public university system and the availability of numerous academic programmes taught in English.
