President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the renewal of the appointment of Managing Director of Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN).
Gatekeepers News reports that the President also named a new Executive Secretary for the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).
According to a statement issued by the presidency, Tinubu renewed the tenure of Sule Abdulaziz as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Transmission Company of Nigeria for a second and final term.
The president also appointed Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu as the new Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund, replacing Ahmed Aminu, who resigned to contest the 2027 governorship election in Adamawa State.
“Both appointments take immediate effect,” the statement said.
Aliyu, a professor and former head of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education, was described as an experienced academic and administrator with a strong background in research and institutional leadership.
The presidency said his appointment reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening institutions in the petroleum sector and enhancing human capital development in Nigeria’s energy industry.
On Abdulaziz’s reappointment, the government noted that the decision followed a review of his performance, highlighting improvements in grid stability, expansion of transmission capacity, and ongoing modernisation of the power system under his leadership.
It also noted his role in advancing regional electricity integration through the West African Power Pool.
Tinubu urged both appointees to carry out their responsibilities with diligence and integrity in line with his administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
