President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has officially inaugurated the Gateway International Airport in Ogun State, marking a major milestone in the state’s infrastructure development drive.
Gatekeepers News reports that the newly completed airport, located in Iperu-Remo, was commissioned as part of efforts to boost economic growth, enhance connectivity, and attract investment into the state.
Speaking at the event, Tinubu described the project as a strategic asset that would support trade, tourism, and industrial expansion, particularly given Ogun’s proximity to Lagos and its growing status as an industrial hub.
The Ogun State governor, Dapo Abiodun, said the airport would serve as a catalyst for job creation and ease the pressure on existing airports in nearby cities. He noted that the facility is designed to handle both cargo and passenger traffic, positioning the state as a key logistics center.
The project has been in development for several years and is expected to improve regional transportation while supporting businesses operating within Ogun and neighboring states.
