The Nigerian Army has intensified security measures in Jos, Plateau State, following recent killings in parts of the region.
Gatekeepers News reports that according to reports, troops have begun stop-and-search operations across key areas of the city in a bid to restore order and prevent further violence. The move comes amid heightened tension after attacks that left several people dead and displaced others.
Security personnel were seen mounting checkpoints and patrolling strategic locations, while residents and motorists were subjected to thorough searches. The operation is aimed at tracking down suspects and intercepting weapons that may be used to fuel further attacks.
Authorities said the increased military presence is part of efforts to reassure residents and stabilise the situation, urging members of the public to cooperate with security agencies.
The development follows a series of violent incidents in Plateau State, which have raised concerns over safety and prompted calls for stronger government intervention to curb the unrest.
