Operatives of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested a 93-year-old man and a medical doctor over alleged involvement in drug trafficking activities.

Gatekeepers News reports that the 93-year-old suspect, identified as Pa Friday Ahukanna Chigbu, was apprehended at his residence in Abia State. NDLEA operatives reportedly recovered about 7.7 kilograms of skunk (a strain of cannabis) from him. He is said to have confessed to engaging in the illicit drug trade for over a year.

In a related operation, a 69-year-old medical doctor, Chudi Daniel Ofomata, was arrested in Ogun State. The agency alleged that he coordinated the movement of 1.49 kilograms of cocaine, which was intercepted at the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport.

NDLEA said the arrests were part of its ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking networks across the country, targeting both distributors and coordinators of illegal drug movements.

The agency continues to intensify efforts at airports, borders, and within communities to curb the spread of illicit substances.
