Sokoto State Government has pledged to continue initiatives that promote intellectual growth, legal advancement, and the strengthening of institutions.
Gatekeepers News reports that Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto made the pledge at a book presentation titled “Military Law in Nigeria: A Quick Reference Guide to Practice and Procedure,” published in honour of Barrister Muhammad Bello Goronyo and edited by Professor Ibrahim Abdullahi, SAN. The event was held at the Army Command Mess and Suites, Sokoto.
Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu said this was in line with the government’s conviction of recognising the importance of knowledge, education, and the rule of law as pillars of sustainable development.
The Governor, who was represented by his Deputy, Idris Mohammed Gobir, urged all stakeholders, legal professionals, security agencies, and academic institutions to make effective use of the book.
He described the presentation of the book as timely and significant, as it provides the legal framework that governs discipline, accountability, and the protection of rights within the armed forces, while also ensuring alignment with democratic principles and the rule of law.
Alhaji Ahmed Aliyu said the book represents a valuable addition to legal scholarship in Nigeria.
He described the Minister of State for Works, Barrister Muhammad Bello Goronyo, in whose honour the book was presented, as a man whose life reflects dedication, integrity, and excellence.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the occasion and Senator representing Sokoto Central Senatorial District, Aliyu Magatakarda Wamakko, thanked the organisers for selecting him to serve in that capacity.
Senator Wamakko commended all those who contributed to the success of the book presentation.
The book reviewer, Professor Ahmad Adamu from the Nigerian Defence Academy, said the book contains 300 pages and eight chapters.
Professor Adamu described the book as a tool for advancing legal practice.
In a vote of thanks, the Minister of State for Works, Barrister Muhammad Bello Goronyo, expressed appreciation to the Senator for his mentorship and commitment to public service.
The Minister also applauded Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto for his commitment to transforming the state in all facets.
