A woman gave birth to twin boys during a fundraising event organised by Kebbi State First Lady Zainab Nasir Idris in support of women’s groups across the state.
Gatekeepers News reports that the woman reportedly went into labour at Haliru Audu Stadium in Birnin Kebbi on Sunday while attending the gathering, which drew a large crowd of women, political supporters and government officials, including Governor Nasir Idris and his wife.
The unexpected birth caused excitement at the event, where the woman, said to have attended in search of support, delivered the twins before she and her newborns were moved to a hospital for further medical attention.
Following news of the delivery, Bello Dallatun Ka’oje, member representing Suru/Bagudo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, announced a ₦5 million donation on behalf of the governor to support the mother’s healthcare needs and the babies’ naming ceremony.
The fundraising programme also attracted significant donations for women’s groups in the state.
Chairman of the Kebbi State Pilgrims Welfare Agency, Faruk Enabo, donated one million wrappers for distribution to members in celebration of Eid-el-Kabir.
He also announced a ₦30 million donation to the women on behalf of himself and his associates, alongside the presentation of a vehicle to the association’s leadership.
“Women are steadfast in politics and business; they are the vanguard of electoral victory. We will continue to improve their well-being, as demonstrated by our leader, Governor Nasir Idris,” Enabo said.
Organisers said more than ₦200 million was raised during the event to support women’s groups across Kebbi State.
