Seyi Makinde Clinches APM Presidential Ticket Ahead Of 2027 Poll

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has emerged as the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) for 2027 general election following the party’s primary process and endorsement exercise.

Gatekeepers News reports that according to reports, Makinde was affirmed as the party’s sole presidential aspirant after APM members across various wards backed his candidature.

The development comes weeks after the Governor formally declared his intention to contest the presidency on the APM platform during a joint rally involving the party and a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ibadan, Oyo State.

Speaking at the declaration event, Makinde said Nigeria needed a political reset and called on opposition forces to unite ahead of 2027 elections. He argued that the alliance between the PDP faction and APM would provide a platform for candidates to contest positions from the presidency down to state legislative seats.

The APM leadership described his emergence as a product of consensus and party unity, saying members had demonstrated confidence in his leadership and vision for the country.

Party officials also announced candidates for other elective offices following the completion of their primaries.
