Emir of Kiyawa, Kauran Namoda Emirate in Zamfara State, Major Sanusi Muhammad Asha (Rtd.), on Friday commissioned the Gada Central Jumu’at Mosque, remodelled by the Ahmed Aliyu-led administration.
Gatekeepers News reports that the monarch described the construction and renovation of mosques as one of the charitable acts encouraged by Islam, noting that it attracts immense rewards from Almighty Allah.
He commended Governor Ahmed Aliyu for setting the pace by introducing monthly allowances for mosques, as well as stipends for Imams, Deputy Imams, and Muazzins across the state, describing the initiative as worthy of emulation by other leaders.
The Emir also called on the people of Gada to keep the mosque clean and make effective use of it in promoting Islamic education and peaceful coexistence within the community.
Speaking at the event, Governor Ahmed Aliyu said his administration has so far commissioned 43 remodelled and reconstructed Jumu’at Mosques across the state, adding that 12 additional Jumu’at Mosque projects are currently at various stages of completion.
“My dear brothers and sisters, in our determination to ensure that every community has a befitting mosque, we will soon extend the mosque renovation programme to Isa, Sabon Birni, Binji, Bunkari, Tangaza,” the Governor said.
Governor Aliyu also expressed concern over the deplorable condition of some Islamiyya schools across the state, assuring that his administration would begin the renovation of existing schools and the construction of new ones later this year.
He appealed to the people to continue supporting and praying for his administration as it strives to transform Sokoto State.
Also speaking, the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, who was represented by the Wazirin Sokoto, Prof. Sambo Wali Junaidu, urged the people of Gada to make the mosque a centre for learning so they could better understand the teachings, obligations, and prohibitions of Islam.
He commended Governor Aliyu for giving Islamic affairs the attention they deserve and assured him of the continued support of the Sultanate Council.
Earlier, the Sokoto State Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Jabir Sani Mai Hulla, disclosed that the Gada Central Jumu’at Mosque is the second-largest mosque to be remodelled and commissioned by the present administration.
He thanked Governor Aliyu for prioritising the propagation of Islam through the renovation of mosques and Islamiyya schools, as well as the resuscitation of the Hisbah Board in the state.
In his remarks, the Chairman of Gada Local Government Area, Zayyanu Bara’u Gada, commended Governor Aliyu for the numerous people-oriented projects being executed across the local government.
Special prayers were offered after the two-raka’at Jumu’ah congregational prayer, seeking Allah’s continued protection, guidance, and blessings for the nation’s leaders.
