The Lagos State Government has announced a three-week partial closure and traffic diversion on Oke-Afa Bridge in the Isolo area of the state to facilitate rehabilitation works.
Gatekeepers News reports that the diversion will run from Friday, August 28, to September 18, 2026, with the rehabilitation scheduled to be carried out in two phases.
According to a statement issued by Oluwaseun Osiyemi, Lagos Commissioner for Transportation, the first phase will affect the outbound Isolo-to-Ejigbo axis from August 28 to September 11.
During this phase, motorists travelling from Isolo towards Ejigbo will be diverted onto the Isolo-bound carriageway from Pako Roundabout. Traffic will move in both directions on the carriageway before rejoining the main carriageway at Mobil Filling Station.
Motorists travelling from Ejigbo will maintain free movement and share the carriageway with Ejigbo-bound traffic from Mobil Filling Station to Pako Roundabout, after which they will regain full access to the road.
The second phase, scheduled for September 12 to September 18, will affect the inbound Ejigbo-to-Isolo section.
During this phase, motorists travelling from Ejigbo towards Isolo will be diverted onto the Ejigbo-bound carriageway from Mobil Filling Station. Traffic will move in both directions before rejoining the main carriageway at Pako Roundabout.
Motorists travelling from Isolo will maintain free movement and share the carriageway with Isolo-bound traffic from Pako Roundabout to Mobil Filling Station before regaining full access to the road.
Osiyemi said the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) would be deployed to the area to coordinate vehicular movement and minimise congestion throughout the rehabilitation period.
He added that an emergency tow vehicle would also be stationed in the area to assist motorists whose vehicles break down.
“An emergency tow vehicle will be stationed within the axis to provide quick recovery operations for breakdowns throughout the period of the works,” Osiyemi said.
The commissioner urged motorists to cooperate with traffic officials and exercise patience while the rehabilitation works are ongoing.
“Motorists are implored to be patient, as the partial road closure forms part of the traffic management plan for the rehabilitation works on Oke-Afa Bridge, Isolo LGA,” he said.
