Senator Adams Oshiomhole has expressed deep sadness over the death of Chief Dan Osi Orbih, describing the deceased as a brother and close friend of more than four decades.
Gatekeepers News reports that Orbih, a distinguished member of the MCK Orbih family of Ogbona Community in Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State, was described by Oshiomhole as a respectable politician, accomplished businessman and devout Catholic who made significant contributions to the development of Afenmailand.
In a condolence statement, Oshiomhole said Orbih’s life reflected a strong commitment to his faith, community and the advancement of his people.
According to him, Orbih contributed immensely to the development of Afenmailand through his political engagements, business investments and extensive relationships.
“He was a man who believed in the potential of his people and consistently deployed his resources, influence and goodwill in ways that promoted progress and strengthened the bonds within our communities,” Oshiomhole said.
The senator also described Orbih as a principled man who stood firmly by his convictions but remained willing to extend a hand of fellowship across political divides for the benefit of his people.
Oshiomhole said the loss was particularly painful to him, recalling their friendship and shared experiences spanning more than 40 years.
“For me, however, this loss is deeply personal. I have lost a brother and friend of more than four decades,” he said.
He recalled that only recently, he and Orbih had sat with other friends, sharing laughter and reminiscing about their experiences and the journey they had travelled together.
“Little did I know that perhaps one of our last meetings was already upon us. That memory has now assumed a significance I could never have imagined,” he added.
Oshiomhole said Orbih’s greatest legacy would not be material possessions but the good name he left behind, as well as the relationships he built and his contributions to his community.
“Dan came, he saw, he gave his best and he has departed. What he leaves behind is more enduring than material possessions: a good name, cherished relationships and a legacy of service and contribution that will remain in the memories of those whose lives he touched,” he said.
The former Edo State governor extended his condolences, on behalf of his family and the people of Edo North Senatorial District, to Orbih’s wife, Florence, his children, the MCK Orbih family of Ogbona, friends, associates, political colleagues and the people of Edo State.
He prayed that God would comfort the bereaved family, strengthen all those mourning the deceased and grant Chief Dan Osi Orbih eternal rest.
