The Akwa Ibom State Police Command says it has arrested a suspected serial burglar and recovered photographic equipment and other valuables worth more than N21 million.
Gatekeepers News reports that Timfon John, the command’s spokesperson, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, saying the suspect was allegedly linked to multiple burglaries targeting photographic studios across the state.
According to John, the suspect also led police operatives to other suspects and locations where several stolen items were recovered.
“The Command is intensifying efforts to dismantle criminal networks and recover stolen property,” the statement reads.
“Members of the public who may have fallen victim to similar burglary or theft incidents are urged to come forward with relevant information.”
The arrest comes days after the police said the Interpol National Central Bureau in Nigeria had arrested more than 10 fugitives and seized criminal assets valued at N2 billion between September 7, 2025, and August 2026.
The police also said the bureau secured more than five international extraditions and rescued 60 victims of trafficking and kidnapping during the period under review.
According to the force, the arrests and extraditions were achieved “through sustained international police cooperation and intelligence-sharing with law enforcement partners across the globe”.
The police further disclosed that the bureau investigated more than 43 financial crime cases involving 30 countries during the period.
