Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani says Northern Nigerian women Ulama have endorsed President Bola Tinubu for a second term because of what they consider his achievements and inclusive approach to governance.
Gatekeepers News reports that Sani spoke on Sunday at a stakeholders’ engagement with delegates from the 19 northern states at the Umaru Musa Yar’Adua Conference Centre. He said the delegates represented millions of women across the region and had conveyed their support for Tinubu through their leaders.
According to the governor, the endorsement was not motivated by sentiment or personal interests but by the Tinubu administration’s record, particularly in Northern Nigeria.
“They are not endorsing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu based on sentiments or some selfish reasons. It is simply because of what he has done for Nigeria and for Northern Nigeria in particular,” Sani said.
Sani listed education, infrastructure, healthcare and agriculture among the areas where he said the president had made significant progress.
He also highlighted the benefits received by Northern Nigerians through federal programmes, including the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) initiatives.
The Kaduna governor said the women’s decision reflected their assessment of the administration’s performance rather than regional considerations.
He urged the delegates to take the message of support to communities across the North as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 general election.
The engagement was organised by the Office of Ibrahim Masari, Special Adviser to the President on Political Matters. Governors Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe and Babagana Zulum of Borno were among those who attended the event.
Sani’s comments come amid growing mobilisation by political groups and stakeholders across Northern Nigeria ahead of the 2027 presidential election, with several groups publicly declaring support for Tinubu’s re-election bid.
