Zamfara State Governor, Dauda Lawal, is set to attend the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, where he will engage global leaders, development partners and international organisations on investment opportunities for the state.
Gatekeepers News reports that according to a statement by Sulaiman Bala Idris, the Governor’s spokesperson, Lawal’s participation will focus on showcasing Zamfara’s development priorities and building partnerships in security, economic growth, education, healthcare and sustainable development.
The 81st UNGA is themed, “Restoring Trust, Managing Transformation: A United Nations That Delivers for All.”
Lawal’s activities are scheduled to begin on September 18 with a High-Level Executive Global Roundtable Side Event and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Moment.
On September 21, he is expected to speak at a high-level side event organised by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), titled “From Fragility to Opportunity: Locally Led Pathways to Peace, Resilience and Investment in Fragile Contexts.”
The event will also launch the Northwest Peace, Security and Development Framework 2026–2030, which is expected to provide a platform for strategic partnerships and investment to support peace, security and development in the region.
The Governor is also scheduled to participate in the 2026 SDG Roundtable Discussion, the Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting, the African-Caribbean High-Level Interactive Dialogue and the Nigeria Investment Forum.
The Zamfara government said Lawal’s participation is aimed at strengthening the state’s international partnerships and exploring collaborations that could support its development priorities.
