Ikoyi Building Collapse: Lady Trapped One Week After Joining Fourscore Homes

Onyinye Enekwe, a lady who joined Fourscore Homes a week ago has been trapped in the collapsed building at Lekki.

Gatekeepers News reports that on Monday morning, 26-year-old Onyinye left for Ikoyi, where she worked as second personal assistant to the owner of Fourscore Homes, Femi Osibona.

The graduate of Nnamdi Azikwe who joined Fourscore Homes a week ago had taken a picture of herself at the site, which she sent to her older sister just as she arrived at work on Monday morning.

Her cousin, Chinedu Enekwe, said the family had heard nothing from Onyinye since the building collapsed around 2 pm on Monday.

As of Wednesday afternoon, Onyinye and several others are still trapped in the rubble of the collapsed building.

Enekwe said, “She left her elder sister’s house around 6 am for work on that day.”

He added that the family has received “no information” from the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) and National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) or other rescue workers concerning her whereabouts.

However, Enekwe said the family members are praying for her safe return. “We’re hopeful. We believe she will be found. We are in prayers for her to be found.”

There is still no official figure of the number of persons in the building before the incident happened, but over 50 persons are said to have been trapped.

Meanwhile, Osibona is also believed to be trapped in the rubble as he hasn’t been seen since the day of the incident.

As of Wednesday, the rescue operation has accounted for 31 people, with nine alive and 22 dead.
