RECAP: Queen Naomi Hails Ooni Of Ife As She Talked About Being Misunderstood

Queen Silekunola Naomi says her acceptance as a wife to a traditional ruler attracted a lot of controversial reactions from the public.

Gatekeepers News reports that Queen Naomi says her role as a queen birthed a lot of misconceptions, due to the religious difference.

Queen Naomi who is a prophetess and the founder of a ministry, got married to the Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, the traditional ruler of Ile-Ife.

Speaking in an interview on News Central, she stated that the union was a challenge due to the perception at both ends.

According to her, individuals from the Christian religion felt she shouldn’t have accepted the union, while those in the traditional faith, opined that the Ooni should not have married her.

She said, “I am being misunderstood because of being a prophetess. This side (traditional worshippers) does not understand why I should be accepted into the fold, and this other side (Christians) also thinks she’s left us, she is no longer a part of us anymore. So there is that misunderstanding.”

The Queen who today, announced her separation with Oba Ogunwusi, lauded the king for his personality.

She went further during the interview to describe him as a go-happy man who enjoys the people.

Queen Naomi said, contrary to rumours that the Ooni had another queen, she was the only married wife to him.

She, however, noted that there were “side attractions” during their marriage.

“Few impressions I would love to correct. If anyone knows otherwise, they are free to come up with facts. Let it be known that this decision to move on did not come because his majesty is married to another queen. As many would love to assume, throughout our life as a couple, I was the only married wife to him. There were side attractions, but it was never an issue,”
