Two students of Government Secondary School in Games Village, Bauchi State, were stabbed by their mates on Thursday over a football argument.
Gatekeepers News reports that the students who were supporters of rival European soccer clubs were arguing about which club was superior in the school premises when the matter degenerated and one of them brought out a knife and stabbed the two students.
The victims; Ibrahim Abdullahi was stabbed in the chest and Ismail Abubakar was stabbed on his right thigh. They are currently receiving treatment for their injuries.
The State Police spokesman, SP Ahmed Wakili who confirmed the incident, said Suleiman Jahun, an 18-year-old student, have been arrested, while others are on the run.
“Today (Thursday) at about 16.45hrs, the Police Patrol team of the Command patrolling along Games Village cited a group of students of Government Secondary School, Games Village fighting among themselves.
“On enquiry, it was discovered that one Usman Suleiman Jahun, aka Jan Gashi, 18 years old, SS3 student, conspired with 2 others who are now at large, attacked and stabbed their colleagues with dangerous weapons”.
He noted that “the Command is intensifying more efforts to arrest the fleeing 2 suspects.”
“The Commissioner of Police, Umar Mamman Sanda has directed that the case be transferred to the SCID for further investigation,” he added.
