Rishi Sunak has won the race to replace Liz Truss as Conservative Party leader and is set to become the next UK PM.

Gatekeepers News reports that the development follows the withdrawal of his sole challenger, Penny Mordaunt.

Mordaunt withdrew from the race after failing to secure enough support.

With the development, the coast is clear for Sunak to be announced as the Prime Minister. He will be the youngest for more than 200 years at the age of 42.

Sunak will also be the UK’s first person of colour, first of Asian heritage and first Hindu to lead the country.
