Aishat Binani Governorship Campaign Council has accused the Adamawa State Governor, North East Nigeria, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of using thugs to intimidate voters across the state.

Gatekeepers News reports that the development is coming up ahead of the supplementary elections which is scheduled to hold tomorrow in the state.

A source in the council confirmed that Fintiri has perfected plans to intimidate voters in Binani’s strongholds.

He said, “Fintiri has started mobilizing thugs and using men in mufti but armed to patrol local councils to harrass innocent persons in a voter intimidation menace.”

INEC declared the March 18 governorship election in Adamawa inconclusive.

While Fintiri polled 421,524 votes, Binani’s gets 390,275 votes.

INEC state collation officer, Prof Muhammadu Mele of the University of Maiduguri declared the election inconclusive due to the margin of votes

Fintiri also won the election in 13 of Adamawa’s 21 local government areas while Binani won in the remaining eight.

The race to the Adamawa government house was a closely contested one between the two candidates.

Binani, a serving senator, is very popular in the state for her philanthropy and is tipped to win the election.
