INEC To Deploy Undercover Security Agents At Polling Units

Election officials and materials were not seen at several polling units as of 8:15 am, according to reports from election agents across Fufore Local Government.

Gatekeepers News reports that INEC officials are expected to begin accreditation for the rerun elections at 8.00a.m, but INEC officials were yet to arrive at several polling units.

According to reports by one of our correspondents, the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) staff members were yet to arrive at the Makire Council ward.

Some voters have decried the late arrival of materials as well as officials.

During the main election, Fufore LG sparked an uproar at the state collation centre in Yola, leaving the only local government, one of the largest voting enclaves in the state, outstanding.

Aishatu Ahmad Dahiru Ahmed, known as Binani, is widely expected to win the local government area. Still, controversy over the margin of victory has been the source of confrontation between the Peoples Democratic Party and the All Progressives Congress.

The APC insisted the initial results compiled for the local government area, which appeared to show Binani leading by a vast margin, must be accepted.

The PDP rejected this, saying results actual results now being accepted by INEC matched the outcome viewable in the commission’s results viewing portal.
