Federal Government of Nigeria has mourned the demise of Olarenwaju Fasasi better known as Sound Sultan.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Federal Government of Nigeria has mourned the demise of rapper and songwriter, Olarenwaju Fasasi better known as Sound Sultan, describing it as a great loss to the country.
Gatekeepers News had earlier reported that Sound Sultan, died following a protracted struggle With cancer.
His death was announced in a statement Sunday morning by his family.
He was 44 at the time of his demise.
The statement said Sound Sultan died on Sunday of Angioimmunoblastic T-cell Lymphoma.
“It is with heavy hearty that we announce the passing of multi-talented veteran singer, rapper, songwriter Olarenwaju Fasasi A.K.A sound Sultan.” The statement read in part.
Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed in a statement expressed shock and sadness over his demise.
He described Sound Sultan’s death as a great loss not just to his family and the Creative Industry, but to Nigeria as a whole.
He also extended his condolences to the family, friends and fans of the departed Artiste.
“Our prayers and thoughts are with his wife, children and indeed his entire family at this time. May God comfort and strengthen them. May He also grant repose to the soul of the departed,” The statement said.
