Nigerian Lawmaker Sacks Aide For Calling Shekau A ‘True Hero’

Nigerian lawmaker has sacked his aide for calling Abubakar Shekau a ‘true hero’.

Gatekeepers News reports that Abdulkadir Rahis who is a member of the House of representatives, sacked his aide Bukar Tanda, for saying Boko Haram leader, Shekau “lived a life of hero and died a true hero”.

On Thursday, Gatekeeper News reported that Shekau might have blown himself up to avoid being captured during a tough fight between Boko Haram and ISWAP members.

In his reaction, Tanda said: “I admire and appreciate his courage to terminate his life. He lived a life of a hero and died a true hero. He did it in such a way that not even traces of his corpse will be found.”

Rahis who doesn’t want to be associated with his aide’s comment issued Tanda a sack letter.

“I wish to formally write and notify you of the termination of your appointment as my legislative aide, forthwith,” Rahis said in a letter he personally signed.

Abubakar Shekau

“Your actions, utterances and opinion of recent are at variance with my interest, that of my constituency and our great party, the APC.

“The letter also serves as a disclaimer to any action or position you took or wish to take, on any matter that may have the remotest connection with me as a person or my office,” the letter seen by Gatekeepers News explained.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Army has said it is investigating the report of the Boko Haram leader’s death to avoid what happened in the past.

Shekau had previously been declared dead after he was seriously wounded at the time and the Army had thought he won’t survive it, however, he later resurfaced.
