Inter Milan Replaces Conte With Inzaghi

Inter Milan has replaced Antonio Conte with Simone Inzaghi.

Gatekeepers News reports that Simone Inzaghi has signed a two-year deal with Inter Milan to replace Antonio Conte as the head coach of the club.

His appointment with Inter Milan has brought an end to his 22-year association with Lazio.

The 45-year-old had coached several of Lazio’s youth sides before he was promoted to manage the first team in 2016.

On arriving at San Siro, he qualified Lazio for European competition in each of his five full seasons in charge, and in the 2020/21 season, he led them to the Champions League group stage for the first time since 2007/08 season.

While he was a senior coach at Lazio, he led the club to a Coppa Italia title in 2019 and has also recorded two Italian Super Cup to his name.

As a player, he won multiple honours while in Rome, including the Scudetto.

Before being confirmed as Inter’s new boss, Inzaghi was handed a boost as striker Romelu Lukaku disclosed that he would be staying in the club for next season.

Lukaku said: “Yes, I am staying.

“I’ve already had contact with the man who normally becomes our new manager (Inzaghi). Maybe I shouldn’t say that yet… but it was a very positive conversation.

“There’s also the challenge of doing it again winning the league with Inter. I feel good at Inter.”

Conte who is the predecessor of Inzaghi left Inter weeks after securing their first Serie A title in 11 years, amid a disagreement with the board over their plans to cut costs.

He is however talking with Tottenham to replace Jose Mourinho who was fired close to the end of the 2020/2021 season.
