Southwest Governors’ Forum has condemned the Igangan attack.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Chairman, Southwest Governors’ Forum (SGF), and Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu have condemned the premeditated attack on the people of Igangan, Ibarapa, Oyo State.
Akeredolu in a statement said the cowardly onslaught on a peaceful community has occasioned the loss of lives and property on a large scale.
The SGF Chairman while describing the attack as being horrendous, callous, and highly provocative, urged well-meaning Nigerians to condemn it in the strongest term possible.
He stated that “while we will encourage the security agencies to get to the root of his latest act of provocation, we have directed the Commanders of the South West Security Network, Amotekun, to *convoke a joint security of all Commanders in the South West* with a view to commencing joint operations in the region immediately.”
The SGF reiterated the fact that certain elements are bent on causing friction among the peoples of Nigeria with the sole aim of achieving a pernicious end, adding that “they will stop at nothing until their set goals is realised.”
Akeredolu therefore, charged all lovers of peace and freedom to rise against this current regression into savagery.
He stressed that the SGF has resolved to defend the people, their property, and all legitimate means of livelihood against both internal and external aggression in the region.
The SGF Chairman also charged citizens of the region to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement in their communities, adding that they must be united in the task of defending their lives and properties.
