UFC Champ Kamaru Usman To Visit Nigeria

UFC Champion, Kamaru Usman will be visiting Nigeria for the first time over 20years.

Gatekeepers News reports that Nigerian-born mixed martial artist Kamaru Usman will be visiting Nigeria for the first time since he left as a kid before becoming a champion in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

Usman who was born in Nigeria migrated to America with his family when he was eight and has not visited since then.

He has defended his UFC Welterweight title four times and is now one of the most famous personalities in the MMA.

The 34-year-old who is making a homecoming to Nigeria defended his fourth UFC Welterweight with a win over Jorge Masvidal in April 2021.

Usman took to his Instagram page to announce “Naija, I’m coming home!! See you soon…”

Gatekeepers News gathered that the Champ will arrive in Abuja on Thursday, June 10, with a subsequent stop at Lagos and later travel to his home state, Edo State, Southern Nigeria.

He will visit family and friends in the state and also initiate a community activation plan that involves making lives better for the residence of Edo State.

Usman said, “I looked at my passport and realised I hadn’t been home since I was a kid, that’s when I knew it was time.”

The UFC Champion was born in Auchi, where he spent part of his childhood before leaving the country.

Usman had earlier narrated how getting potable water was hard for him and his grandmother while growing up in the State.

He has, therefore, returned from America to fix this.
