Celebrities and fans have celebrated Tupac’s posthumous birthday.
Gatekeepers News reports that celebrities and music lovers worldwide have remembered Tupac Shakur who would have turned 50 on Wednesday, June 16.
Shakur was killed in a Las Vegas drive-by shooting on Sept. 13, 1996, just three months after his 25th birthday.
Twenty-five years after his death, Tupac remains relevant within pop culture as his influence has paved the waved for the generations that followed.
Lesane Parish Crooks was born in the East Harlem section of Manhattan and is widely recognised as one of the most influential rap artists of all time and was even named on Rolling Stone Magazine’s list of 100 Greatest Artists.
50 Cent earlier wrote, “Every rapper who grew up in the Nineties owes something to Tupac. People either try to emulate him in some way, or they go in a different direction because they didn’t like what he did. But whatever you think of him, he definitely developed his own style: He didn’t sound like anyone who came before him.”
In November 2020 LeBron James wrote, “Riding around in the car headed to a workout with Bronny listening to 2pac “Makaveli” is pure joy to me! “Hold Ya Head” just went off followed by “Against All Odds”
Although Shakur attended performing arts school in Baltimore, alongside Jada Pinkett, he later moved to West in pursuit of his dreams as a rapper.
Jada Pinkett now Jada Pinkett Smith said they were inseparable for a while, but they had a fight and were estranged until he died.
In one of her shows (Red Table Talk) in 2018, she narrated how his death affected her.
She said, “That was a huge loss in my life because he was one of those people that I expected to be here.
“My upset is more anger … because I feel that he left me. And I know that’s not true, and it’s a very selfish way to think about it, but I really did believe that he was going to be here for the long run.”
In commemoration of his birthday, Smith shared a never-before-seen poem written by Tupac.
According to Smith, the poem – ‘Lost Soulz’, was written by 2Pac while he was in jail.
She shared the poem in a video on her Instagram page with the caption:
“As we prepare to celebrate his legacy…let’s remember him for that which we loved most … his way with words.”
Also, American Singer and Songwriter, Janet Jackson, who co-starred with Shakur in the 1993 movie Poetic Justice, posted a promotional photo from the romantic drama, in which Shakur played her love interest.
Several fans across the world have also celebrated the late rapper:
Shakur’s parents were active Black Panther Party members in New York in the late 1960s and early 1970s. His mother was tried in New York City as part of the Panther 21 criminal trial, a month before his birth.
Tupac after his death has influenced numbers to creative works like the popular book, “The Hate You Give”, a biography movie – “All Eyes on Me”, among others.
He is one of the best-selling music artists of all time, selling over 75 million records worldwide. In 2002, Tupac was inducted into the Hip-Hop Hall of Fame and later inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame the first year he was eligible in 2017.
On September 7, 1996, Tupac Shakur was shot severally at approximately 11:15 pm, and he was on life support for six days before eventually passed away on September 13, 1996.
