United States President, Joe Biden has approved a federal probe to unravel the cause of the Surfside building collapse.
Gatekeepers News reports that the seaside condominium tower collapsed into a smouldering heap of twisted metal and concrete on Thursday morning and the death toll has risen from four to eleven as the search for about 151 other people continues as of Monday.
White House Press Secretary, Jen Psaki said President Biden “does believe there should be an investigation.”
“Certainly we want to play any constructive role we can play in getting to the bottom of it and preventing it happening in the future.”
Psaki said there were more than 50 federal government workers from a variety of agencies, including FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency), OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation), at the scene providing coordination with local and state authorities.
Gatekeepers News reports that when Psaki was asked if the President plans to travel to Surfside, she said she currently has no information to announce regarding that.
“We always want to ensure that we are not pulling from local resources, resources that are needed in the ongoing search and rescue operations,” she said.
