Massive fire ripped through a railway arch beside Elephant and Castle station in South London.
Gatekeepers News reports that almost 100 firefighters and 10 fire engines were deployed to the scene of the incident on Monday to put out the fire, which caused a huge plume of smoke to billow into the sky.
According to the station commander, the city’s fire brigade received “nearly 50” emergency calls from people near the station.
A London Fire Brigade official said there was “a significant fire in a car garage in the railway arches,” affecting several nearby cars and a telephone box.
Gatekeepers News gathered that the London Ambulance Service treated six people at the scene, with one of those taken to hospital.
A police officer was said to be among those treated for the effects of smoke inhalation.
The cause of the fire could not be ascertained immediately, but officials believed that “dangerous chemicals” may be a factor in the fire.
