Mexico have thrashed Nigeria 4-0 at an International friendly.
Gatekeepers News reports that Mexico have thrashed Nigeria’s home-based players 4-0 in an international friendly game between the two nations at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Sunday morning.
The only International player on Super Eagles starting lineup was Ibrahim Sunusi, who plies his trade with CF Montreal, others were from the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
There was a huge gap in the quality of the two teams as Mexico dominated the game from start to finish, claiming a resounding win at the end.
Eagles strikers displayed poor finishing while the defence could not find answers to the rampaging Mexicans.
Gerardo Martino’s side without any delay showed their intent right from the start as Hector Herrera nodded home from a corner kick in the second minute of the game.
Two minutes later, Mexico doubled their lead through Rogelio Funes Mori, who kicked home from close range.
Although Mexico started on a scary note by netting two goals within four minutes, it stayed at 2-0 at half-time.
The Eagles under the watch of Gernot Rohr, who handed coaching duties to Paul Aigbogun, failed to get a single shot on target in the first half.
Although they resisted more scores in the last 40 minutes of the first half, a Mexican kicked in their third goal six minutes into halftime. Herrera slotted in his second goal by capitalising on an error from Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali.
Substitute Jonathan dos Santos further made matters worst for the Eagles when he fired in the fourth at the 77th minute from regulation time to bring the game to 4-0 in favour of the Gold Cup Champions.
