Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, South-South Nigeria, has felicitated the State’s former Commissioner for Culture and Tourism and veteran actor Richard Mofe-Damijo (RMD) on his 60th birthday.
Gatekeepers News reports that the Governor on Tuesday hailed the actor’s contribution to the entertainment industry, the country and Delta State when he was a commissioner.
“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I congratulate an illustrious son of the state, Mr. Richard Mofe Damijo, aka RMD, as he turns 60 years old today,” the Governor wrote in a Facebook post.
“We are proud of your many achievements in the movie and entertainment industry — and your service to our country, and our state as an erstwhile Commissioner for Culture and Tourism.
“As you turn 60, I pray that your family, associates, and admirers always have cause to be grateful to Almighty God for having granted you a life of wonderful accomplishments.”
Gatekeepers News reports that RMD had earlier revealed that clocking 60 was a big deal for him because his parents didn’t live that much.
“None of my parents lived to be 60, so life for me is just about to get started. There’s been a specter of death around my life, that’s what I’ve been dealing with last year till this year,” he had said.
“When I turned 59, it was a big deal for me, big deal for me! My mom died at 59, my father died at 57/58.”
