Edo State Government has taken over the construction of the Igarra road.
Gatekeepers News reports that Edo State Government has taken over the construction of the Igarra, Lawani Crescent Federal Constituency Road project in the Akoko-Edo Local Government Area of the state.
A viral video released by Paulson Great earlier showed that inferior materials were used in the construction of the road which was initially sponsored by the Deputy Majority Leader, House of Representatives, Peter Akpatason (representing the Akoko-Edo Federal constituency), and being implemented by Royal Jeff Nig. Ltd.
Akpatason in an exclusive interview with Gatekeepers News declaimed this, noting that the viral video has some political undertone.
However, Governor Godwin Obaseki through his Facebook page, announced that his administration after inspecting the project affirmed that it is substandard and has taken over the project.
Obaseki said, “the project falls short of the standard that we have maintained in execution of road projects across Edo State.”
The Governor, therefore, called on citizens to take charge of all government properties in their area.
He noted that “the contractor handling the Lawani Crescent project must be arrested for the bad job done and handed over to ICPC and the EFCC, to enable us ascertain exactly what happened.”
He added, “the contract for the project stands revoked.”
The State Governor, therefore, promised to investigate the allocation given to the constituency, “The National Assembly allocated N360m for constituency projects in Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency this year. We would investigate all to ensure we have value for money.”
