Saudi Declares Dates For Eid al Adha And Youm Arafah
Saudi Arabia has declared the official dates for the Eid al Adha And Youm Arafah.

Gatekeepers News reports that Saudi Supreme Court announced that Youm Arafah will be on Monday, July 19th and Eid al-Adha will be celebrated on Tuesday, July 20, 2021, as the crescent of Dhu Al-Hijjah was not sighted on Friday.

“The sighting of the Crescent Moon of the month of Dhul Hijjah has not been confirmed Friday evening. Hence tomorrow, Saturday, is the 30th day of the month of Dhul-Qi’dah, and the day after tomorrow, Sunday, is the first of the month of Dhul-Hijjah”, the Saudi Royal Court said.

Hence, Hajj will start on Dhu Al-Hijjah 8 (July 18) when pilgrims head to Mina and end on Dhu Al-Hijjah 12 (July 22).

Youm Arafah signifies the date the Prophet Muhammed (S.A.W) gave one of his last sermons while the day after, Eid al Adha, honours the day the Prophet Abraham almost sacrificed his son Issac for God.

Muslims around the world observe Eid al Adha by recreating Abraham’s event through sacrificing a lamb, cow, or camel in remembrance. Families traditionally consume a third of the animal’s meat, while saving a third for neighbours and at least a third for donation to the needy.

Gatekeepers News reports that the resolution on Muslim festivals Eid al Fitr and Eid al Adha is based on the lunar system.

Although moon sighting dates differ from year to year and country to country, but the Saudi Arabian sightings are mainly used by Muslims around the world in their holiday planning.
