Edo Queens Make History - Win Nigeria Women's Football League Title
Edo Queens have been crowned champions of the Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) for the first time in the club’s history.

Gatekeepers News reports that the Benin-based team secured the title after a 1-1 draw against Bayelsa Queens in their final match of the NWFL Super Six playoff, accumulating 10 points from five matches.

Edo Queens took the lead in the 29th minute with Emem Essien’s impressive strike, but Bayelsa Queens equalized just four minutes into the second half through Zainab Olopade’s goal. Despite the draw, Edo Queens clinched the title due to Rivers Angels’ inability to defeat Heartland Queens, which ended 1-1.

This historic win earns Edo Queens a spot in the West African Football Union (WAFU) championship, which serves as a qualifier for next season’s CAF Women’s Champions League.
