Gatekeepers News reports that Suspected gunmen have assassinated Billionaire Chief Philip Udala In Anambra, South East, Nigeria.
Chief Philip Udala was until his death the Chairman of Udala FC, Uke, Idemili South Local Government Area.
Udala, a grassroots football development expert, was killed when his convoy collided with the group of armed gunmen at the Eke-Agu Market crossing in Abatete, Idemili North Local Area.
When the militants intercepted the Udala convoy in Abatete, they had apparently attacked a local police station and were fleeing the scene.
Godsent Eriobu, Udala FC Manager and Secretary of Anambra Independent League (AIFL) who was also in the convoy was equally shot and died instantly.
Chairman of AIFL, Rev. Fr Obinna Dike confirmed the death of Udala.
He said the amateur league had lost two important members of the football family.
Dike prayed that “may the souls of Chief Philip Udala and Godsent Eriobu rest in the Lord, Amen.”
“So sad, our worst fears are becoming reality, we lost them,” he said in a text.
