Court Sacks Odey As Senator For Cross River North

Court Bars Husband From Talking To Wife For 2 Weeks

Court of Appeal sitting in Calabar has nullified the election of senator Stephen Odey as senator representing Cross River North Senatorial District.

Gatekeepers News reports that a three-man panel of justices, led by Justice Chioma Nwosu-Iheme on Friday declared the member representing Obudu/Yala Federal Constituency, Jarigbe Agom as the duly elected Senator.

The court pronounced Jarigbe as the lawful candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Cross River North senatorial district by-election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on December 5, 2020.

Gatekeepers News  reports that the Senatorial election was conducted on December 5th 2020 following the death of Senator Rose Oko.

The Election Petition had on the 18th of June 2021 affirmed Odey as the Senator-elect for Cross River North.

However, on Friday, the Appeal court invalidated the Certificate of Return earlier issued to Senator Odey by INEC and directed the electoral body to withdraw it.
